Mark Burnam- Varsity Coach


Mark is the Head Weddington Varsity Lacrosse Coach and has 30+ years of lacrosse playing and coaching experience.  Mark Burnam grew up outside Syracuse New York and played at Henniger High School, where his team won the 1980 New York State Championship and he received team Most Valuable Player.  Attending Syracuse University, he was a member of the 1983 DI National Championship team.  Mark played professional lacrosse for the Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Nighthawks, and Syracuse Smash of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (NLL) and played in the Canadian Indoor Lacrosse League for the Tuscarora Thunderhawks and Akwasane Thunder.  He is a five-time member and team Captain of the Iroquois World Cup National Team.

 

Mark is the co-founder of Carolina Select Lacrosse where he coaches the U-19 team.  Mark has been appointed the defensive coach for the Iroquois Nation Team competing in England in 2010. He has run numerous leagues in Upstate NY and participated in many camps and clinics.  This past fall, Coach Burnam led a Warriors HS Select Team (comprised of some local players) to a Championship in the Charlotte Fall Classic.  They went on to finish 2nd at the Dicks Tournament of Champions where they defeated all US opponents, only losing in overtime of the Championship game to Canada’s top team. 

 

Mark lives in Wesley Chapel, NC with his wife and 3 children
